Junior Librarian is a sophisticated library management system that is available to all pupils in KS1 and KS2. It is a web based library system that can be accessed at any time via a web browser, enabling Penboyr School to create and engaging an invaluable online library resource for all pupils.

The library supports the National Curriculum and the Literacy Framework. As well as being appealing to pupils and increase the enjoyment of reading, it can also track the reading progress across the school in order to raise standards in literacy.

The Junior Librarian homepage is child friendly which makes it easy for all ages to use. All pupils have been given their own unique PIN to access the school library in school and at home. The pupils simply scan a book’s bar code and then their own PIN, which starts the transaction immediately. Once they have read a book, pupil’s can write a review, encouraging critical thinking and creative writing

The pupils can also search for a book by typing in all or part of a word relating to a resource they are looking for. This can be anything including part of a title, author, subject or keyword or even the classification number. This will teach the pupils valuable research skills. Pupils can also reserve and review books from home by logging in using their library barcode
